This is one of two ventilation stacks of the
Clem 7 Tunnel under the Brisbane river that links the north- and southside of Brisbane. This one, in Bowen Hills, is red, the other one, in Woolloongabba, purple - inspired by the poinciana and jacaranda trees that colour the city red and purple in spring.
A lot of people don't like these creations of architect John Ilett, but I think they are a nice, colourful addition to the cityscape of Brisbane. You can see them from miles away.
